My family member is currently incarcerated at Jean Conservation Camp, in Jean Nevada. This is her first time and was told it was a decent place for a prison. However, that is far from what she has found, and several inmates that are repeat offenders have also stated it it nothing like it was before. The inside building temperature during these (2023) summer months is between 80-85 degrees. The water they have access to is well water, and it comes out of the cold tap warm. She, and many inmates are dehydrated. She was advised that medical personnel come only once a quarter. There are No Classes or Programs available for the inmates to improve themselves. In the kitchen, the oven is broken, as well as the refrigerator. The camp is using an external refrigeration truck as cold storage. She would gladly go back to the medium security prison, but they are not allowed to return unless they get in trouble, which will increase their sentence.
