I

Former Inmate

This website does not let me navigate correctly. However, i can tell you that I was there from 2009 till 2013 and was on an honor dorm. A working honor dorm. Brick layers, electricians. Labores. Etc. I am A welder. We were taken out each day to maintain the 1940s facility. While it was the best dorm because we were skilled and kept it running as best we could. I welded steam pipes at high pressure. Inexcusable. In the basments with ratts crawling on me laying in dirt trying to weld steam pipes at high pressure. Death waiting to happen. As well all the food is rehydrated with water that smells like septic. I've welded things in the kitchens. And in freezers containing bags of frozen meats labeled GRADE D. MEAT NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. Not to mention the people i was forced to live with. The poor nutrition and black mold in the showers definitive of the sickness i developed. Bleeding ulsers and a basic decline with no medical help available. I had a following sentence of 18 mos. In a federal penitentiary. I couldnt believe the somewhat normal food. I could feel the nutrition come back into my body and the sickness leave. We were given plenty of time outside with a running track and weights. I cant explain how i felt. While still a very rough environment. I flourished and was able to return to my home and child almost like an athlete. Hate to say thankful butt after westville? I am. The place needs condemned to say the verry least! Cant count how many nites snow came in on my pillow( if i had one). From broken Windows over my head not to mention the rest. If you have a loved one at westville, worry. Love to all. Kevin 5742160283. Hang in there.

This facility is far from clean. You can look up at the ceiling and you are looking outside. Rain water gets inside the facility due to these holes. You can see the metal spikes that holds the walls together sticking out of the walls. The inmates are fed poorly. The food quality is less than acceptable. The only way most service is from money that is put on the inmates books from family and friends. For those who aren't fortunate enough to have outside resources, are in bad shape. The warden is a liar and doesn't care about the inmates. He did nothing to contain the CoVid virus. My son was diagnosed with it and was not quarantined adequately. We were not informed by the prison staff but by another inmate. This is the worst facility that anyone should be in. One lawsuit was not enough. It is still horrible.

Everything that is stated about this facility is a lie they offer nothing.. you can get more drugs In there then on the streets.. no hot meals what so ever they are getting sack lunches and commissary they can only order every two weeks and god let’s not talk about the prices of the food .I order is nothing! I pay over a hundred when I can get it for way less and get way more for 123 bucks!! And half the time they have no hot water or they shut off the water off it’s so orange when they do have water! There are no windows the ceiling is moldy and falling in. the co’s are crooks and drug dealers.. no classes for drug rehab ,anger management this is one of the worst prisons in Indiana this prison is a joke and down right disgusting so corrupt it’s sickening to read what is posted and it’s nothing but lies

I don't understand how they "lose" an inmate but that was the case with mine. Guards seemingly lost him while trying to clean up a mess they made. Theres some weird stuff going on at westville. And even as a visitor don't ever expect to be treated with kindness. Its a rarity. If you even get to have your visit because you wore the same thing 4 visits in a row only for the detector to suddenly decide to go off this time. And you don't get to visit for another 2 weeks because no one recorded or reported that you didn't even get your visit like they're supposed to. And you can tell whoever you want but it won't matter because no one cares. No one does their job there correctly that I've had the "pleasure" of dealing with. And it doesn't matter to anyone because to them its just inmates. The guards words are like gods and its a raging load of bullshit.

I understand every facility has rules and regulation so I am not debating that at all.But what I don't understand is why you can't wear jury what if it's against my religion to remove my jury hmm!!! And I know for a fact it is a gift to low To ask someone to prove their religion.Again why do visitors have to remove any and all jury???????

The conditions of this person itself are absolutely deplorable and not fit for Humanity the staff is unbelievably rude and disrespectful you've got guards and I quote screaming things at inmates such as I'm your master now disgusting and deplorable for any human being to speak to another human being in that form or fashion the fact that they go days if not weeks without hot water the fact that half the time they write in a grievance they get nowhere they write in and say they need to see a doctor not happening the food is not meant for human consumption even says so on the boxes of meat somebody needs to shut this prison completely down if it is not habitable for a human being to receive basics then it doesn't need to be opened and trying to rebuild it is not helping
