I

Former Inmate

I was there from 2013-2016. I'm not proud to say this, but I have been in the women's prison back in Coldwater, the main and camp. I was also at Scott's & Camp Brighton. It's crazy how you have all the women in one facility and all these other prisons for men or prisons sitting empty. I don't understand how you can justify putting women in storage closets and dayrooms. It's so crazy and insane. I worked doing the warehouse and store during the day and POA at night. I can truly say I will not be returning. What I seen and Witnessed changed me in many ways. Most of the staff didn't really care to much about the women. They were rude, harass certain inmates, just down right terrible. I know we all were there and some are still there. Just remember one thing 'We all was judged and sentence by a court of law before we got to prison,'. The staff is very unperfessional when it comes to this. They judge them again and really make some inmates life a living Hell. That isn't their job to sit and judge or talk about someone. I was always questioned about my eyes. I had a cataract that was so bad I was blind. You talk about scared I was always afraid I was going to bump into a staff member (officer) and them think it was intentional. My eyes were so bad when I got home that when I had surgery on my eyes the staff watched the whole surgery to see if it was going to work. It did I had 20/20 vision in my eye. I will say the eye doctor at the Facility trued to get the surgery done for me there, but Lansing said NO I still had one eye. I will say Thank you for helping me turn my life around for the good. I promised someone I was going to walk away this time and not look back. I retired from that life. That's about all that came good out of it.
