My reason for being here today is regarding inmate Kash Jackson Y-57297. Kash is my partner and he has been working extremely hard each day in order to gain credit for time served. According to the hours he has worked, he should be released on September 15th. He has spoken to several individuals at the prison, including his counselor, and his hours worked are not even recorded yet for July or August. His interstate compact paperwork has not been done yet. He has not been assigned a parole officer. All this is showing that Statesville is not ready to release him yet, as these items should be done in advance. It's imperative that Kash is able to live in his home in Arkansas while he does he is on parole. Statesville has not been contacted by Illinois yet either. How difficult can it be to update his work hours and assign a parole officer. These are all unnecessary hold-ups that will continue to devastate a man who has been through enough pain and suffering. It does not take 2 months to update his work contracts? This is a travesty and something must be done to help Kash Jackson. From a humanity standpoint, this is atrocious and should not even be allowed. If a man works every day in order to get an earlier release, then that needs to be honored. What is wrong with our justice system men's lives mean so little and there's zero compassion.. I would like to speak to someone in records or Mr. Love, the warden. Please contact me at 201-788-0431. Thank you.
