As in previous FLA department of Corrections this institute fails on Every level. Above all inmates are never safe. The population is out of control. The Officers are committed to their belief that the word "Correction" means punishment. Treating prisoners as subhuman vermin. Requests for medical ignored. Any reason to lock down is jumped at. Less trouble for the guards. Head counts do nothing to prevent violence. But as a "job" it's an easy one. Education is mere lip service. Prisoners who wish to learn, better themselves or prepare for release are given useless classes all given by a for-profit business. To prevent the use of any other classes "offered" prisoners are given incorrect classifications that lock them out. Additionally, these classifications prevent prisoners from working. The law library is 20 years out of date. The regular library is a fiasco. Exercise is rare. And citizens wonder why inmates fight. They're caged with nothing to do but gang up and show their "power" The ones who don't want to fall into the statistics of recidivism are denied the skills needed to survive outside. Like all Florida prisons staff is underpaid and overworked. Good officers leave. They witness the unprofessional behavior and laziness. Despite Covid, the severe decrease in visitation, the increased forced reliance on JPay for profit tablets and the reduction of outside time the amount of contraband inside has remained the same. See anything broken here? Sadistic guards keep prisoners from going to chow. Its a disaster costing you millions voters. It's not ok for society nor safety upon release.
