I am a family member of an inmate , I do not think this is a well , clean , organized SAFE PLACE . A loved one has talked about good days of him coming home . Towards his release date he claimed he was feeling unwell so they took him to Galveston hospital .They told the family he was there and that they were going to run test . Now we the family are unsure when exactly , he was taken to the hospital. They called the family a few days later to let us know they found liver problems . Nothing makes sense we need answers . They decided to release him back to GIST UNIT and release him home next day April 2nd 2021 was his official release date . When family picked him up he was in poor health we rushed him to hospital near home . Where he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer . AND DIED NEXT DAY APRIL 4 ,2021 My only wish is to have his medical records . And why wasn't the family notified or alerted him sooner about his illness where there could of been a chance saving him .!!! FAILURE TO DIAGNOSE !!! Our family was expecting a healthy man coming home , because that's how he was before going to GIST UNIT . And on his initial release date we find him unwell and sick and dies the next day . Why ? why wasn't he told he had cancer ? why wasn't the family notified sooner ? Why ? Why didn't the nurses or doctor fail these observations . From having stage 4 cancer he was skin and bones and yellow of skin and was not eating and couldn't keep anything down before he died , The family was only with him 1 day out of the the 4years and 2 months he was GIST UNIT . We just want answers !
